Spring is finally here. We’re almost sure your to-do list already feels too long, but we have a couple things that can save you some problems and keep you comfortable in the months to come. The weather is already heating up in Marshalltown and the last thing you want is to uncover is that you’re facing an AC repair. Going through this short checklist now may save you from sweating this summer.
- Inspect Your Air Filter and Ducts
Swapping your air filter makes it to almost all of our lists of pointers because it's so important and so often left unaddressed. If your air filter is filthy, your system will have to work harder to keep you comfortable. This costs you more money and causes more stress on the system which decreases the life and efficiency of your system. Your ducts and registers are an additional piece of the puzzle that is often forgotten as well. While you're spring cleaning, take off the covers from your registers and vacuum inside them. While you have the covers removed, soak them in mild dish soap, give them a scrub and swap them after they've dried.
- Clean Your Outdoor Unit
Keep any outdoor units free of debris such as grass clippings, leaves or plant overgrowth. This debris can clog your system and cause it to decrease its efficiency.
- Arrange Your Annual AC Tune-Up
This is where we come in to help you take on that to-do list. An annual AC tune-up helps improve the life of your system and keeps it operating at top efficiency. Spring is the best time to arrange your tune-up so any concerns or AC repair that needs to be made can be addressed before the hot summer months. The cost of a tune-up is a minimal investment into the lifecycle of your system. Think of it as giving your air conditioner an oil change.
We can't help you with all of your spring to-do list, but we can help you with all things involving your home comfort. We want to be sure you’re cool and comfortable all summer long. If you have any questions about spring cleaning, your system or need to arrange your annual AC tune-up, please give us a call at 641-812-2028.
